This site sells Andrew Obara’s books and hosts a small reader forum. This page explains what it collects, why it collects it, and what it deliberately does not do.
The short version
- There are no advertising trackers, no analytics, and no pixels on this site. Nothing here follows you anywhere else on the internet.
- Your card number and your Mobile Money PIN never touch this site. Payment is handled by Pesapal on their own secure page.
- You are asked for your details in three places only: when you buy a book, when you join the reader forum, and when you sign up for the newsletter.
- Nothing collected here is sold, rented, or shared for anyone’s marketing.
Who is responsible
Andrew Obara. If you want to know what is held about you, or want it deleted, or simply have a question about this page, use the contact page — that is the route for all of it.
When you buy a book
Buying does not create an account. Checkout asks only for what is needed to get the book to you:
- Your name and email address — to confirm the order and send your receipt.
- Your phone number — for a physical book, the delivery slot is confirmed on this number by WhatsApp. It is used for your order and nothing else.
- A delivery address — only when something physical has to reach you. An e-Book order is never asked for one.
The order itself — what you bought, what you paid, where it went — is kept as a business record.
Payment
Payment is handled by Pesapal: Mobile Money (MTN and Airtel) when paying in shillings, Visa and Mastercard when paying in dollars.
Card numbers, card PINs and Mobile Money PINs are entered on Pesapal’s own secure page. They are never seen by this site and never stored on it. What comes back here is whether the payment succeeded, and a reference for it. Pesapal handles that data under their own privacy policy.
Delivery
Physical books are delivered by boda across Kampala, or collected free from FCL Place, Muyenga Road, Kampala, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Your phone number and address are used to arrange that, and are shared with whoever is carrying the book to you — for that delivery only.
If you use the WhatsApp button on this site, that conversation happens inside WhatsApp, which is run by Meta under their own terms and privacy policy, not this site’s.
An e-Book is delivered as a download link the moment payment clears. No address is involved.
The newsletter, and “tell me when it’s out”
If you give your email address to the newsletter form or to a notify-me form on a book that has not been released yet, that address is stored on this site and used only to send you the thing you asked for. Every newsletter carries an unsubscribe link, and asking to be removed by any other route works just as well.
The reader forum
Joining the forum creates an account holding a display name, an email address, and a password. The password is stored scrambled (hashed) — it cannot be read back, by anyone, including Andrew.
Anything you post in the forum is public and shows the display name you chose. If you want a post or your whole account removed, ask through the contact page.
Comments
If you leave a comment, the form stores what you typed along with your name and email address. Your IP address and browser identification are recorded with it, which is how spam is detected and blocked.
Security logging
This site runs security software that records IP addresses and failed login attempts in order to block attacks. That is its only purpose; it is not used to build a picture of who visits.
Cookies
Only the ones that make the site work:
- A cart cookie, so your basket survives moving between pages.
- A note of which currency you chose to browse in.
- A sign-in cookie, if you have a forum account and are signed in.
There are no advertising cookies and no analytics cookies, because there is no advertising and no analytics.
How long things are kept
Orders are kept as business and accounting records. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Forum accounts and posts are kept until you ask for them to be removed. Comments are kept with the article they belong to.
What you can ask for
You can ask what is held about you, ask for a copy of it, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Use the contact page. Some things have to be kept even after a deletion request — a paid order is an accounting record — and if that applies you will be told which and why.
Changes to this page
If how this site handles your details changes, this page changes with it, and the date below changes too.
